Program Costs – Family Giving Campaign
The MarinSEL program costs $2,750 per student per year. In order to keep our program at the highest level possible for all of our students and to alleviate the need for additional fundraising and volunteer efforts, every family is required to contribute their fair share – we encourage families who are able to contribute the entire $2,750 to do so, though the minimum ask is $950 per student. We know not every family is able to contribute at a high level and we encourage EVERY family to generously give what they can. Our goal is 100% family participation!

Volunteering
Volunteering is an essential part of being a MarinSEL parent. Volunteers allow MarinSEL to keep its costs low and provide essential program and fundraising support. We require each family to contribute a minimum of 10 hours of volunteer time per student throughout the course of the school year. In addition, we require that each family attend a minimum of four parent volunteer meetings per year.
Volunteers help run all of our programs and fundraisers with lead volunteers taking ownership of and managing the program or fundraiser, with a lot of support from other volunteers. There are numerous opportunities to get involved and we encourage you to contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Lisa Sanchez-O’Brien, at any time during the school year to see what you can contribute.
Strategic Energy Innovations (SEI) plays a large role in organizing MarinSEL events and academic programming. SEI assists teachers and students with administrative tasks and plays a significant role in program design, including development of the Leadership and Environmental Action Development (LEAD) Project, the Sustainable Enterprise Project, and the Senior Internship Program. Along with the Volunteer Coordinator, SEI will organize and promote a majority of parent volunteer opportunities.
Our Volunteer Coordinator will track your hours through communication with committee leads. It is very important to follow through on your volunteer commitments.
Lead Volunteer Position
Each volunteer category will have a lead volunteer/committee lead. The leads are expected to help organize the parents who have signed up for this role. This will include the following:
- Ensure that enough volunteers are signed up for/available
- Keep in contact with all parents in committee
- Contact SEI for prior process documents to better understand the role of the committee
- Set up an initial meeting/contact and arrange subsequent meeting times and locations
-
Coordinate volunteers for each event
- Delegate tasks and determine deadlines
- Track volunteer participation
- Work with MarinSEL teachers and SEI when necessary
Being a lead volunteer will add extra time to any volunteer role. Keep in mind that SEI can assist lead volunteers and past lead volunteers can provide guidance as well.
